Bechem United and Nations FC shared the spoils in a goalless draw during their Ghana Premier League opener at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex in Abrankese on Sunday afternoon.
The home side, Nations FC, had an early opportunity to break the deadlock when Richard Danso came close in the 17th minute, but his effort sailed just wide of the post.
Bechem United nearly found themselves trailing just before halftime when Razak Simpson’s powerful header was denied by a crucial save from goalkeeper Aziz Daari.
The second half saw more intense action, culminating in a dramatic turn of events.
Both teams were reduced to ten men after a scuffle between Nations FC’s Richard Danso and Bechem United’s Charles Owusu led to straight red cards for the pair, following a heated altercation on the pitch.
Despite the numerical disadvantage, neither side could find the breakthrough, and the match ended in a stalemate.
Both teams will look to build on this point as they seek their first wins of the campaign.
Next up, Nations FC will travel to face newly promoted Young Apostles, while Bechem United host Aduana FC at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park.
