Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has asked for patience for misfiring striker Iñaki Williams.
The 29-year-old – who has featured six times since his debut against Brazil after switching nationality from Spain to Ghana – has been unable to impress Ghanaians.
The African football legend opines it will take time for Iñaki to be accustomed to the African game.
“It’s very difficult to adjust to the African game, he has played in Europe all his life,” Gyan said to Akoma FM in Kumasi.
Gyan believes that a debut goal for the Athletic Bilbao forward will pave way for improved performances and greater returns in his total play.
“We need to give him more opportunities, he is improving even though he hasn’t found his feet yet but I’m sure his first goal will open the flood gates and many more will follow. His first goal will boost his confidence level. Let’s keep supporting him.”
The Black Stars lie top of Group E of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers with seven points, three better than Angola and Central African Republic. Madagascar have a point at the base of the standings.
Ghana play guests to Angola on matchday 4 of the qualifiers in Luanda on Monday, March 27.
