Bayern Munich have decided against signing a replacement for Jamal Musiala this summer, despite concerns over the Germany international’s latest health problems, with Ismael Saibari among the players viewed as capable of filling the attacking midfield position.
According to German journalist Florian Plettenberg of Sky, Bayern remain fully committed to supporting Musiala and have no intention of entering the transfer market specifically to cover his absence.
The Bundesliga champions believe they already have several options for the number 10 role. Those alternatives include young midfielder Lennart Karl, PSV player Ismael Saibari and Germany international Serge Gnabry.
Plettenberg reported: “🚨EXCL | Clear decision at FC Bayern: No replacement for Jamal Musiala planned.100% support for Musiala. The club are giving him the time and patience he needs.FC Bayern also have several alternatives for the No. 10 position, including Lennart Karl, Ismael Saibari and Serge…”
Musiala has been under medical observation after collapsing twice in the space of three days. Bayern said he went down without any contact during their 3-1 friendly victory over RB Leipzig on Saturday, only minutes after coming on as a substitute and scoring the third goal.
A similar incident occurred during Bayern’s 4-2 win against Heidenheim on Tuesday.
The 23-year-old confirmed on Wednesday that he was undergoing further medical checks. He said doctors had diagnosed him with temporary neurological problems that could be treated, while stressing that there was no serious health risk.
Musiala had previously missed approximately six months after suffering a fracture to his fibula and a dislocated ankle. He returned for Bayern during the second half of last season and later represented Germany at the 2026 World Cup.
The club’s decision indicates that Bayern do not currently believe a new signing is necessary, even though Musiala’s condition remains under assessment. Instead, they are prepared to give him the time and patience required for his recovery while relying on players already within the squad.
Saibari is therefore among the candidates who could be asked to take on a more prominent role if Musiala is unavailable. Karl is another option identified by Bayern, while Gnabry provides additional experience in an attacking position.
The latest situation has also prompted discussion among supporters, with the subject being debated in Kooora forums.
