Former Asante Kotoko trainer Bashiru Hayford has expressed his confidence in current  manager Prosper Ogum to deliver the 2023 betPawa Premier League title at the end of the season.

Despite their shaky start to the season, the Porcupine Warriors secured two consecutive victories against Accra Lions and Aduana Stars in the last two rounds.

The team from Kumasi is gearing up to face Nations FC on matchday six.

Hayford shared his optimism, saying, “They are doing very well at the moment. They have won two games in a row, and considering the league, if they manage to secure about four more wins and take the top spot in the league table, it will be a tough task for other teams to overtake them. So, I am rooting for Kotoko to lead the league. When Kotoko leads the table, it becomes challenging for other teams to displace them.”

He further commended Ogum’s coaching approach, highlighting their discussions on football matters. Hayford added, “They are doing well. Ogum is someone who frequently calls me to discuss football and all that. He calls me ‘Uncle.'”

Hayford acknowledged the initial challenges that the team faced at the start of the season, emphasizing that the Kotoko squad is a new one being formed by the coach. He noted that as they play more games and reach the tenth match, people will begin to see the true potential of the team.
