Heart of Lions head coach Bashir Hayford has acknowledged that his side’s recent struggles in the Ghana Premier League have taken a toll on the confidence of his players.
The Kpando-based club have endured a worrying run in the 2025/26 season, suffering consecutive defeats for the first time this campaign. Across their last five league matches, Lions have managed just one win, alongside two draws and two losses.
Speaking ahead of their Matchday 15 clash with FC Samartex, Hayford revealed that the poor results have had a psychological impact on the squad, forcing the technical team to shift focus beyond tactics alone.
According to the experienced coach, efforts have been made to rebuild belief within the team, with emphasis placed on mental strength, physical readiness, and tactical discipline as they look to turn their fortunes around.
Hayford also urged his players to move on from recent setbacks, noting that inconsistency is part of football and stressing confidence in the team’s ability to rediscover their winning touch.
Heart of Lions face FC Samartex on Sunday, December 21, with kick-off set for 3:00 pm.
