Basake Holy Stars have dismissed reports suggesting that head coach Evans Adotey has resigned from his role at the newly promoted Ghana Premier League side.
The club’s Communications Director, Alfred Takyi Mensah, clarified in an exclusive interview with KICKOFFGhana that Adotey is still in charge of the technical team, despite his temporary absence.
According to him, the experienced trainer requested a short leave to attend to a crucial family matter ; a request the club fully approved.
“I would say he is still with us as the head of our technical team. He only asked for a short leave to play a very important role in his family, and management has granted him that privilege,” he confirmed.
In Adotey’s absence, assistant coach Johnson Smith has taken over first-team duties and led the team to a massive victory against Asante Kotoko ; a result that ended the Porcupine Warriors’ 11-match unbeaten run.
The club says Smith will continue to handle the squad until Adotey returns.
