Barcelona have officially signed Croatia international goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic from Turkish club Fenerbahce on a contract running until 30 June 2030.
The Catalan club confirmed the agreement on Thursday, saying: “An agreement has been reached between Barcelona and Fenerbahce for the transfer of the Croatian goalkeeper, who has signed a four-season contract until 30 June 2030.”
Livakovic joins Barcelona after a career that has included spells with several of Croatia’s leading clubs, along with two seasons in Istanbul. His role at the Spanish club has yet to be decided, with the 31-year-old potentially staying as a second-choice goalkeeper or leaving on loan for the 2025-26 season.
One possible plan would see Livakovic return to Barcelona next season, when the contract of veteran Poland goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny expires.
Livakovic began his development in the youth systems of Zadar and Zagreb before reaching the Zagreb first team during the 2012-13 Croatian top-flight season. He spent four seasons with the club, then moved to Dinamo Zagreb for the 2016-17 campaign.
The goalkeeper remained at Dinamo for seven seasons and made 295 appearances. He conceded 249 goals and recorded 137 clean sheets during that period, while helping the club win seven league titles.
His performances earned him a move to Fenerbahce in the summer of 2023. Livakovic played 74 matches across two seasons with the Istanbul-based side and kept 24 clean sheets.
In the summer of 2025, he joined Girona on loan but did not make an appearance for the Spanish club. He subsequently returned to Dinamo Zagreb on another loan deal during the winter transfer window.
Livakovic played 15 matches after returning to the Croatian club, conceding only 10 goals and keeping eight clean sheets. His contribution helped Dinamo Zagreb win the league title.
At international level, Livakovic has been a regular member of the Croatia team since 2017. He has featured at the last three World Cups in 2018, 2022 and 2026 and at the past two European Championships, in 2021 and 2024.
He won a World Cup silver medal with Croatia in 2018 and a bronze medal at the 2022 tournament. His performances on the international stage have also established him as one of the country’s most experienced goalkeepers.
Barcelona have now secured his services on a long-term contract, although the club is yet to determine whether he will remain with the first team as back-up or spend the coming season elsewhere on loan.
