FC Barcelona captain Sergio Busquets is not ready to take another pay cut from the club following their latest financial crisis.
There have been reports that Barca are finding it hard to sign players owing to their wage bill with a chunk of first-team players not willing to leave the club after being put on notice by the officials.
Barca are currently looking to further reduce the cost of the workforce by asking the experienced players to take a salary cut as they are among the highest-paid players in the squad.
Marca says that while Pique has informed manager Xavi Hernadez about his intention to lower his wages further, his fellow captain Basquests won’t be taking the same direction. The midfielder wants to continue with his current salary at least until the end of next season.
Busquets’ current deal at Barça expires in 2023 and he is considered an indispensable figure in the first team, with Xavi rating him highly due to his composure, skill, and experience. Having already reduced his wages twice during the pandemic, the player won’t be lowering his wages further.
There have been reports that the club would want to do away with the midfielder owing to his latest comments and stance on the salary issue with the club already in the market to find his replacements.
