Former Ghana U17 World Cup winner Awudu Issaka has made a shocking revelation about his time in Germany, admitting he turned to spiritual enchantment — widely known as ‘juju’ — in a desperate attempt to earn more playing time at Bundesliga side 1860 Munich.
Issaka, who joined the German outfit in the late 1990s, struggled to break into the first team and found himself in direct competition with German football icon Thomas Häßler.
“Most of the time I was on the bench,” Issaka disclosed in an interview. “So I turned to spiritual help because I believed it would give me an edge over Häßler.”
Issaka said he performed various rituals, including sacrificing a cow, hoping to “destroy” his teammate spiritually and secure a regular starting role. However, he now sees that decision as a major mistake in his career and has since renounced such practices.
