Former Ghana international Augustine Arhinful has called on the Ghana Football Association not to sack Black Stars trainer Chris Hughton.
After a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Madagascar, Ghana faced a setback with a narrow defeat to Comoros, intensifying calls for Hughton’s dismissal.
A 43rd minute strike by midfielder Myziane Maolida was enough for the Coelacanths to overcome the Black Stars at the Stade Malouzini in Moroni on Tuesday night.
“From a technical point of view, I don’t think it’s the best thing to do,” Arhinful told Angel FM.
“Between now and the Nations Cup is just one month if I’m not lying. You can take the risk by relieving him of his position, but I don’t think that is something where we have to subscribe to.
“There is still more room…especially when it comes to picking the players for the matches. We have spoken a lot about the call-ups, now it’s picking the players.”
Ghana will now turn her focus to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations scheduled for January and February 2024 in IvoryCoast
