Kamaldeen Sulemana could play a bigger role for Atalanta BC as the club approaches a demanding period of the campaign.
Head coach Raffaele Palladino believes players who have had limited minutes will be key as the team competes on several fronts.
Atalanta are currently seventh in the Serie A table and remain in the race for a European qualification spot.
The Italian side is also preparing for a tough UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie against FC Bayern Munich.
Earlier in the week, Atalanta drew 2-2 away to S.S. Lazio in the first leg of the Coppa Italia semi-finals.
Sulemana came off the bench in the 76th minute and set up fellow substitute Yunus Musah for a goal.
The contribution from the substitutes impressed Palladino, who stressed the importance of squad depth.
“Brilliant from Musah, a top impact off the bench. I need these lads who haven’t had as many minutes lately.”
“Musah, [Odilon] Kossounou, [Kamaldeen] Sulemana; everyone who’s had less game time. We’ve got a packed schedule and we’re competing on three fronts” Palladino said.
Sulemana has made 30 appearances across all competitions this season, scoring three goals and providing one assist.
