According to reports from Kumasi-based Pure FM, players of Asante Kotoko are requesting the payment of their unpaid salaries which have been pending for four months.
The players made this demand prior to their match against Berekum Chelsea on matchday 26, but unfortunately suffered a 3-0 defeat at the Golden City Park.
Some of the players are owed two months of unpaid salaries, as well as winning bonuses that have not been paid.
It is currently unclear when the players will receive their due payments. Asante Kotoko, who are the defending champions of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season, have been underperforming lately, which led to the dismissal of Seydou Zerbo, who took over from Prosper Narteh Ogum on mutual grounds. The team is currently in fifth place on the league table with 39 points.
On the upcoming matchday 27, Asante Kotoko will host the league leaders Aduana Stars at the Baba Yara Stadium. The team will hope to turn their fortunes around and return to their winning ways.
