Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko have opened discussions to reappoint Charles Kwablan Akonnor as head coach ahead of the 2025/26 season, according to emerging reports.
The move comes in the wake of Prosper Narteh Ogum’s dismissal, with Abdul Karim Zito currently serving as interim coach until the season ends. Zito has been tasked with delivering both the Premier League and FA Cup titles.
With just four league matches remaining, Kotoko are reportedly considering a long-term technical direction and have reached out to Akonnor, who previously managed the club from 2018 to 2019.
However, talks are said to be in the early stages, and no agreement has been reached yet.
Over the weekend, Kotoko booked their place in the FA Cup final with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Berekum Chelsea at the TNA Park.
The Porcupine Warriors now shift focus to the Ghana Premier League, where they face Dreams FC this weekend at the Tuba Astro Turf on Matchday 31.
