Asante Kotoko’s goalkeeper Frederick Asare has been handed his debut call-up to the Ghana national football team, the Black Stars.
The talented shot-stopper’s inclusion in the squad comes as recognition for his outstanding performances for the Porcupine Warriors in the Ghana Premier League.
Asare is one of five debutants named by coach Otto Addo in his 26-man squad for the upcoming friendlies against Nigeria and Uganda.
He is also the only home-based player in the squad.
The friendly matches, scheduled to take place in Marrakech, Morocco, will provide an opportunity for Coach Otto Addo to assess his squad and lay down the groundwork for future competitions.
Ghana will first face Nigeria on Friday, March 22, followed by a clash against Uganda four days later.
