Asamoah is top scorer in the Ghana League with nine goals and was the surprise inclusion in the side to face Congo and England at the expense of Berekum Chelsea’s Emmanuel Clottey.
Asamoah admits the call-up caught him by surprise, but it still fills him with immense pride nonetheless.
“I didn’t expect it to be honest but for every player the recognition is important, he tells KickOffGhana.com. “I am happy that the fact that I am playing well in the league has been noticed.”
With Prince Tagoe in red-hot form and Asamoah Gyan due to return for the friendly against England, Asamoah knows his chances of playing in those two games are limited though.
“I think it is the experience that will matter. The opportunity to learn from the more experienced players and get a feel of what the national team camp is. I am patient because I know that if I bide my time and play well i will get my opportunities in future.”
