Asamoah Gyan reckons budding partnership with Brazilian duo Lima and Ribeiro can power Al Ahli to successive Arabian Gulf League crown

Asamoah Gyan is confident his growing relationship with Rodrigo Lima and Everton Ribeiro can power Al Ahli to a second successive Arabian Gulf League crown.

The 30-year-old has hit the ground running since he joined the side on a season-long loan from Chinese outfit Shanghai SIPG.

The former Sunderland hitman has scored two goals in 80 minutes so far.

And the Ghana captain, who has admitted he’s not operating on full strength,is confident his striking partnership with Brazilian duo Lima and Ribeiro will help the UAE side to defend their crown.

“We’re cooperating very well, we speak outside the pitch about how we’re going to play,” Gyan said

“Even at the training ground we’re getting on very well, which is very, very important.

They’re both great players and me being a part of that is also a good deal for the team. It boosts our confidence. Our relationship is going really well and I hope we carry on. If we continue like this we can be champions again.”

The Black Stars captain has now stretched his impressive UAE top-flight record to 96 goals from 84 matches.
