Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah was rejected from Black Starlets of Ghana – Ibrahim Sannie Daara

Former Ghana Football Association Communications Director, Ibrahim Saanie Daara, has revealed that Eddie Nketiah was rejected by Ghana when he wanted to represent the Black Starlets years ago.

The Ghana Football Association confirmed the availability of Mohammed Salisu, Inaki Williams, Tariq Lamptey, Patrick Pfeifer, Ransford-Yeboah and Stephen Ambrosio for selection in the next Black Stars squad.

Nketiah is still eligible to play for Ghana and conversations are expected to continue between the player and the GFA.

Many have labelled the players as ‘opportunities’ – coming to benefit from the World Cup and depart.

Sannie believes those assertions are misplaced and that some had actually wanted to feature for Ghana at the youth level.

“I am also aware that players like Eddie Nketiah came to Black Starlets team and was told that he was not cut for it several years ago,” he said in an interview with JoySports.

The Arsenal youngster has not made his intentions clear on representing Ghana at the senior national team level.

The Black Stars will participate in their fourth FIFA World Cup appearance in Qatar and have been drawn with Uruguay, South Korea and Portugal in Group H.
