Arsenal were dumped out of the Europa League on Thursday night by Sporting CP on penalties. The Gunners couldn’t hold their nerve in the penalty shootout, losing 5-3 on spot-kicks.

Now, Mikel Arteta must get the team to rebound and prepare for Sunday’s visit from Crystal Palace. The Gunners are five points clear of second-place Manchester City. Arsenal can go eight points clear of City, as Pep Guardiola’s team will play in the FA Cup this weekend.

Crystal Palace have slept walked into a relegation battle. Patrick Vieira’s project isn’t working, as Palace continue to struggle in the Premier League. Palace are on a three-match losing streak in the Premier League. They will start the weekend just three points clear of the relegation zone.

Arsenal defeated Crystal Palace earlier this season 2-0 at Selhurst Park. Gabriel Martinelli opened the scoring in the first half and a Marc Guehi own goal in the second period sealed the win for Arsenal. The Gunners went unbeaten in five of their last six matches in all tournaments versus Palace.

Arsenal are on a five-match winning streak in the league. The Gunners scored 15 goals in those five matches. The Gunners are on a two-game winning streak at the Emirates. Arsenal have a home record of 10W-2D-1L.

Crystal Palace are bottom of the form table with just three points from the last six games. Palace failed to score in their last four matches. Each of the Eagles’ last three matches in the Premier League ended in 1-0 defeats.

Vieira’s team has won just two matches on the road this term. The Eagles have a record of 2W-4D-7L, with a mere nine goals scored.

Crystal Palace goalkeeper Vincente Guaita has been ruled out of the match with a hamstring strain. Sam Johnstone has a calf injury and will sit out the game. Midfielder Will Hughes is suffering from an illness and could miss the fixture.

James McArthur is also ill and may not be fit. Meanwhile, Nathan Ferguson is slowly getting back to fitness. However, he could still miss the match.

Arteta will be without striker Eddie Nketiah following a sprained ankle. Gabriel Jesus did play in midweek and will be fit to start. Midfielder Mohamed Elneny and defender Takehiro Tomiyasu are both ruled out of the fixture.

Arsenal may have lost in Europe in midweek, but they are playing well in the league currently. Palace are not playing well and should fall once more to the Gunners. Arsenal should post a 3-1 win, as Palace struggle for goals once more.
