Arsenal strengthen Emirates record as Kai Havertz makes English football history

Arsenal’s remarkable home form under Mikel Arteta reached another landmark as their two-goal lead against Coventry City became the 60th time they have held such an advantage in a Premier League match at Emirates Stadium during the manager’s tenure.

The statistic, highlighted by football data providers Opta, underlines the consistency of Arsenal’s performances on home soil since Arteta took charge. Of the previous 59 occasions when Arsenal had led by at least two goals in a Premier League home game under the Spanish manager, they had gone on to win 58.

The only other result was a draw. Arsenal have never lost from that position, giving them a record that reflects both their control of matches and their ability to protect a commanding advantage in front of their own supporters.

The latest figure forms part of a wider sequence of impressive results at Emirates Stadium. Arsenal have now gone 45 consecutive Premier League home matches without defeat against clubs promoted from the division below.

That run consists of 40 victories and five draws. Opta said it is the longest unbeaten sequence of its kind by any club in the history of the Premier League, further highlighting Arsenal’s dominance when newly promoted sides have visited north London.

The club’s individual players also contributed to the latest set of milestones, with Kai Havertz continuing a particularly productive spell in front of goal.

The Germany international scored in four consecutive starts for the first time in his English football career. His run began with a goal against Burnley, followed by efforts against Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City, before he found the net again against Coventry City.

Havertz’s sequence has established him as one of Arteta’s most influential attacking options this season. It also marks a notable improvement in his consistency since arriving in the Premier League, with the Arsenal forward now scoring regularly across a series of demanding fixtures.

Opta summarised the achievement in a post stating: “Arsenal’s Kai Havertz has scored in four consecutive starts for the first time in English football.”

The data specialists also described Arsenal’s home record in emphatic terms after the Coventry milestone: “This is the 60th time that Arsenal have led by 2+ goals in a Premier League home game under Mikel Arteta. They have gone on to win 58 of the previous 59 (D1 L0). Unbreakable.”

Havertz’s goal against Coventry was also reported with the caption: “Kai Havertz opens the scoring for Arsenal.” The latest figures add to the sense that Emirates Stadium has become a difficult venue for visiting teams under Arteta, while Havertz’s scoring run provides further evidence of his growing importance to the side.
