Thomas Partey took to social media to provide an important update on his fitness ahead of Arsenal’s match against West Ham United on Sunday.
The Ghana international was injured in the 3-0 loss to Crystal Palace earlier this month. He was sorely missed during back-to-back losses to Brighton and Southampton, but Mikel Arteta’s side has since steadied the ship, securing crucial wins over Chelsea and Manchester United in the last week.
Partey has now posted a video of himself running on a treadmill, giving Arsenal fans hope that he will be able to return to first-team action before the season ends.
The Gunners have a number of important games coming up, including the North London Derby against Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur next month.
Arsenal will be hoping for the former Atletico Madrid star to return to Arteta’s matchday squad as soon as possible considering he was in brilliant form at the base of the Spanish coach’s favoured 4-3-3 set-up.
Speaking about Partey’s injury earlier this month, Arteta said: “It’s a little bit ambiguous but he has a significant injury. We will have to keep assessing him but he will be out for some weeks.
“It’s an area he had a previous injury and he felt it straight away and he’s not fit.” Belgian youngster Albert Sambi Lokonga had initially deputised in the centre of the park during the aforementioned losses against the Seagulls and the Saints but he was replaced by experienced midfielder Mohamed Elneny for the recent two wins.
Partey has two goals and one assist in 24 league games this season.
