Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta says the club acted appropriately in its handling of rape allegations involving former midfielder Thomas Partey.
Partey, 32, has been charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault involving three women, with the alleged incidents occurring between 2021 and 2022 while he was still a player at the London club.
During a press conference, Arteta was asked whether he was confident that Arsenal handled the matter properly, given the public scrutiny around the club’s role.
“100%, yes,” the Spaniard responded.
“The club was very clear in its statement. There are a lot of legal matters that are very complicated, so I cannot comment on any of that.”
Partey is currently a free agent and has been seen training in Ghana as he awaits the next chapter of his career amid ongoing legal proceedings.
