Arsenal defender set for Birmingham switch

Arsenal are ready to farm a current member of the club’s loan army out on a fresh stint away from the club this coming season, according to reports.

The player in question? Auston Trusty.

Defender Trusty sealed a surprise Emirates switch this past January.

Swiftly following confirmation of his move to north London, though, was the announcement that the one-time United States youth international had been sent back to the Colorado Rapids, on loan for the remainder of the campaign.

But, ahead of the fast-approaching new season, Trusty’s future has since been thrown back up in the air once more.

This comes with the stopper viewed as altogether unlikely to see any form of consistent game-time under the watch of Mikel Arteta over the weeks and months ahead, sitting behind the likes of Ben White, Gabriel Magalhaes, William Saliba and Rob Holding in the central defensive pecking order in north London.

It therefore shouldn’t come as a massive surprise to hear of Trusty inching towards a fresh Arsenal exit.

As per a mounting number of reports, the 23-year-old is primed for his first taste of English football in 2022/23, when he will link up with Birmingham City as part of a year-long loan.

His arrival will mark the 3rd loan addition to John Eustace’s ranks this summer, following Dion Sanderson, and Przemyslaw Placheta in the door at St. Andrew’s.
