Old habits die hard; and so do captain’s duties.
Former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah had to dust off his leadership boots on Monday when he jokingly disciplined his ex-teammate Haminu Dramani for arriving late to training with the Monday Stars, a recreational football group made up of retired professionals and ex-national players.
Training had already kicked off at the McDan La Town Park when Dramani strolled in, casually late. But Appiah, ever the skipper, wasn’t having it.
With a smile and a mock-serious tone, he ordered Dramani to “go and warm up by doing 10 push ups drawing laughter from the rest of the squad.
Appiah and Dramani were both part of Ghana’s historic 2006 World Cup squad, and their bond clearly still carries that same locker room energy, even years later.
