The Black Stars captain’s inclusion in Milovan Rajevac’s 30-man provisional squad has drawn fierce criticism but Appiah is refusing to let that knock him down.
“This again proves that I am fit now to play at the highest level again and I am determined to go on,” he told KickOffGhana.com.
“I simply want to give it my best shot at this moment because to be able to play against at this level is pleasing enough.”
Appiah is determined to make the final cut for the World Cup in South Africa next month in what has been a tough period in his career.
His appearance against Catania was his first competitive club game in more than two years and his first game in the Italian Serie A since he quit Juventus for Fenabahce in 2007.
