Antoine Semenyo has announced his arrival at the highest level of English football in spectacular fashion after being named February’s Player of the Month in the Premier League.

The Ghana international’s recognition comes barely weeks after completing a January move from AFC Bournemouth to defending champions Manchester City — a transfer that has already proven to be a masterstroke.

In just his first full month at the Etihad Stadium, Semenyo produced a string of electrifying performances that immediately endeared him to City supporters and caught the attention of football fans across England.

Across five Premier League appearances in February, the versatile forward delivered three goals and one assist, playing a decisive role in City’s continued push for domestic success.

His goals came against three different opponents — Tottenham Hotspur, Fulham FC and Leeds United — each strike underlining his ability to deliver in big moments.

For a player who had only just arrived at one of the most demanding clubs in world football, the impact was nothing short of extraordinary.

Speaking after receiving the award, Semenyo described the moment as one he will cherish for the rest of his career.

“This is a brilliant moment for me. To win the Premier League Player of the Month award so soon after joining City is something I’ll never forget,” he told the club’s official website.

Despite the recognition, the Ghanaian forward made it clear that his focus remains firmly on improvement and helping the team achieve its objectives as the season approaches its decisive phase.

“My focus now is on continuing to improve and helping City to achieve the best possible results,” he added.
“We have so much to play for and I am really excited about this final period of the season.”

One of the most striking aspects of Semenyo’s performances so far has been his remarkable versatility.

Under the guidance of legendary manager Pep Guardiola, the Ghanaian attacker has already demonstrated his ability to operate in multiple roles.

During February alone, he featured on both wings, dropped into midfield when required, and even led the attack as a central forward.

That tactical flexibility has provided Guardiola with additional attacking options — a crucial asset as City compete on multiple fronts in the closing months of the campaign.

Observers have also praised Semenyo’s explosive pace, physical strength, and direct attacking style, qualities that have allowed him to adapt quickly to City’s fast-paced and technically demanding system.

The award is also historically significant for Manchester City.

Semenyo becomes the first City player outside of Erling Haaland to win the Player of the Month prize since Raheem Sterling claimed it in December 2021.

Haaland has dominated the accolade for much of the season, winning it four times already, with his most recent triumph coming in September.

Semenyo’s victory therefore signals not only his individual brilliance but also the growing influence he is beginning to exert within City’s star-studded squad.

The Ghanaian forward beat stiff competition to secure the February honour.

The shortlist featured several standout performers from across the league, including Viktor Gyökeres of Arsenal FC, his Manchester City teammate Nico O’Reilly, Dango Ouattara of Brentford FC, Benjamin Šeško of Manchester United, and Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk of Liverpool FC.

Emerging as the winner from such a competitive field highlights just how impactful Semenyo’s performances have been.

For Ghanaian football fans, his rapid rise at Manchester City is also a source of enormous pride.

The forward has long been considered one of the most dynamic attackers available to the Ghana national football team, and his growing prominence in the Premier League could prove vital as Ghana prepares for the 2026 World Cup.

Back in Manchester, however, the focus remains firmly on the present.

With the Premier League entering its decisive stretch and City chasing silverware on multiple fronts, Semenyo’s form could prove crucial.

If his blistering February is any indication, the Etihad Stadium may only just be witnessing the beginning of a remarkable chapter in the Ghanaian star’s career
