Ghana midfielder Anthony Annan has revealed his frustrated ordeal in securing documentation in order to return to his club after the Nations Cup.
The 26-year-old’s return to Osasuna delayed for almost a month as he battled to secure a travelling visa to Spain.
Annan played just a few minutes of Ghana’s campaign at the Nations Cup in South Africa – missing the larger parts through injury.
He was however denied an express visa to travel to Spain after the Black Stars returned from the tournament with some vital documents going missing.
The ex Hearts of Oak player however escaped punishment as he was in constant touch with his club over the protracted bureaucracy in securing the visa.
He now laments over his frustrated ordeal – adding his delay would hurt his ambitions of getting into the first team of Osasuna especially after sustaining an injury.
“It was a major setback, to miss almost a month’s schedule,†he told a press conference upon his return to Pamplona.
“It is the first time that I have to stay so long in my country, it made me very sad.
“I needed a visa from the embassy and they told me it will take one day.
“Then it kept dragging on especially after missing my birth certificate, then the police papers, etc.
“Worst of all, I was also injured. I played the first twenty minutes of the African Nations Cup but was still hurting.
“It was very frustrating but I could not play with pain.â€
