Ghanaian captain Andre Ayew marked his comeback to the French Ligue 1 in spectacular fashion, netting a brace to salvage a draw for Le Havre against Lorient. After a challenging 2023 Africa Cup of Nations campaign with the Black Stars, Ayew’s impactful performance on Sunday showcased his resilience.
Introduced as a substitute in the 70th minute, Ayew scored two crucial goals in the dying moments of the game, securing a valuable away point for Le Havre. The match ended in a thrilling 3-3 draw at the Stade du Moustoir – Yves Allainmat.
Le Havre initially took the lead with Emmanuel Sabbi converting a penalty in the 15th minute, but Lorient responded as Imran Louz equalized before halftime. Lorient went on to score two more goals in the second half, with Ayman Kari finding the net and setting up a challenging situation for Le Havre.
However, Andre Ayew showcased his scoring prowess by pulling off late heroics, scoring in the 85th and 94th minutes to level the score and secure a dramatic draw.
Since joining Le Havre as a free agent in November 2023, Ayew has made a significant impact, featuring in four appearances for the club.
