Andre Ayew says his move to the Dutch league was driven by his desire to keep competing at the highest level.
The 36-year-old joined NAC Breda during the January transfer window on a short-term deal until the end of the season, with an option to extend.
Ayew became a free agent after leaving Le Havre AC, where he made 27 league appearances, scoring four goals and providing one assist.
The former Black Stars captain has previously played for clubs including Marseille, Swansea City, and West Ham.
“I am a footballer, and I always want to play at the highest level,” he said in an interview with ESPN.
“The Dutch league is a very good league, technically, physically.
“I was looking at challenging myself again, like I did in Le Havre the last two years, where I could bring something to the table and where the belief is mutual from both sides.”
Since arriving at NAC Breda, Ayew has made six league appearances.
