The Black Stars are confident they can clinch all three points at the Ohene Djan Stadium against Sudan on Sunday but must hope for the other group game in Cotonou between Mali and Benin to end in a draw.
That will make the Black Stars the first qualifiers from Africa apart from host South Africa for the World Cup.
“We are aware it could happen this weekend but it is not something we will allow to distract us,” Amoah told KickOffGhana.com. “It will be great if it happens but we know that the most important thing is that another win takes us close to the World Cup.
“We simply have to focus on what we have to do as a team, pick up the six points and wait to see what happens.”
Amoah, who scored three times in two qualifiers in June comes into the Sudan game on the back of a good start to the season having hit four goals for NAC Breda.
