The Free State Stars defender will meet up with familiar faces when Ghana plays South Africa in the first semifinal on Wednesday and says it will be a game that will be pleasing to the eye.
“They have played some fine football here, so it should be a good game,” he tells KickOffGhana.com. “There are no easy games at this level, but our confidence is growing, so we will face that game in good spirit.”
Many players in the Ghana camp have been impressed with South Africa’s quick passing football. Mensah says when they meet, that admiration will have to stop.
“We have to make it difficult for them to play the way they enjoy. We must restrict the space they operate in, and we will win.”
At stake for the winner in that game would be a place in the finals on Sunday and the chance to compete for the African Youth title.
It’s a title Ghana has won twice since the competition took the current format in 1993, but the Black Satellites have not won it since 1999.
