Ivory Coast forward Amad Diallo has expressed excitement ahead of the Elephants’ highly anticipated 2025 Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final clash against Egypt.
The Ivorians booked their place in the last eight with an emphatic 3–0 win over Burkina Faso in Tuesday’s round-of-16 encounter, setting up a blockbuster meeting with the Pharaohs on Saturday, January 10, 2026.
Speaking to CANAL+ SPORT, the Manchester United attacker acknowledged Egypt’s pedigree, describing them as a historic rival of Ivory Coast, but believes the current generation is capable of turning the tide.
“Egypt are a strong team with a great history and top players like Mohamed Salah, whom we know very well,” Diallo said. “They have been a historical nemesis for Ivory Coast, but times have changed and this is a new generation.”
Diallo highlighted the Elephants’ attacking strength and stressed the importance of preparation, humility, and focus.
“We have great quality going forward and we will prepare well with the coach. We will approach the match with humility and concentration, just as we did against Burkina Faso. I hope Ivory Coast can continue progressing in the tournament.”
Diallo has been one of Ivory Coast’s standout performers at the tournament and is expected to play a key role in Saturday’s crucial quarter-final showdown.
