Swedru All Blacks were left to rue missed opportunity after being held to a 1-1 draw by Karela United at the Swedru Sports Stadium in their Ghana Premier League Matchday 16 clash.
Eager to bounce back from last weekend’s setback against Bechem United, the Black Magicians started on the front foot, enjoying early possession and territorial control. However, their dominance failed to translate into clear chances as Karela stayed compact and disciplined, forcing a cagey, goalless first half.
The breakthrough finally arrived after the restart when All Blacks returned with greater urgency. In the 64th minute, Ayikabia Solomon Anyork Nereba finished off a slick move to give the hosts a deserved lead and ignite celebrations in Swedru.
But just as it seemed the home side were back on track, Karela struck back. Six minutes later, Malik Abubakar punished a lapse in concentration, firing home his fourth goal of the season to silence the home crowd and level the scores.
The closing stages saw both sides chase a winner — All Blacks pushing numbers forward, Karela threatening on the break — but neither could land the decisive blow.
In the end, the spoils were shared, leaving Swedru All Blacks frustrated at home, while Karela United walked away with a valuable away point.
