Former Ghana international goalkeeper Ali Jarrah has voiced his opinion, urging Black Stars coach Chris Hughton to reinstate Richard Ofori as the primary goalkeeper for the national team.
Despite several goalkeeper experiments, none have solidified their position in the team, leaving the four-time African champions seeking stability in this crucial role.
Richard Ofori, currently playing for Orlando Pirates in South Africa, was Ghana’s first-choice goalkeeper before injury setbacks temporarily sidelined him.
Jojo Wollacot, Lawrence Ati-Zigi, Danlad Ibrahim, and Abdul Manaf Nurudeen have all been tried, but none have managed to win the confidence of the Ghanaian public.
Ali Jarrah expressed his view in an interview with Happy FM, asserting, “Richard Ofori was Ghana’s top choice before his unfortunate injury, but if he’s back in the team and fit, he unquestionably deserves the role of the team’s number one goalkeeper, ahead of Ati-Zigi.”
The Black Stars are set to commence their 2026 World Cup qualifiers next month, beginning with a match against Madagascar.
