Forrmer board member of Hearts of Oak, Alhaji Brimah Akambi has suggested a potential solution to address the growing concern of hooliganism in Ghana football.
His comment follows the recent tragic incident at a match between Nsoatreman FC and Asante Kotoko, that led to the death of Francis Frimpong, known as ‘Nana Pooley’.
Speaking in an interview with Citi Sports, the experienced administrator feels certain venues are unsuitable for hosting matches.
“Why do we play football under duress? Nobody should accept it, and this one I will blame on ourselves. We decided on making the Ghana Premier League autonomous three years ago,” Akanbi stated.
“We could have chosen five stadia to host games. Not every stadium is suitable for hosting games. This could have avoided something like the demise of the fan.”
The Ghana Football Association has postponed match-day 20 matches with the return date yet to be communicated.
