Algeria coach Christian Gourcuff fires 2015 AFCON warning – We will win all Group C games

Algeria coach Christian Gourcuff has fired a warning to all his group opponents – including Ghana – ahead of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, insisting his side is out to win all of its games at the tournament.

Algeria, tipped a favourites to win next year’s tournament to be staged in Equatorial Guinea have been drawn in a tough group alongside Ghana, South Africa and Senegal.

The Desert Warriors will open their campaign on January 19 against South Africa in Mongomo before coming up against the mighty Black Stars in their second group game four days later.

The North Africans will then complete their group campaign with another tough game against Senegal.

But Algeria coach Christian Gourcuff is unfazed by the daunting task ahead and has served notice of his side’s determination to pick maximum points off all their opponents.

“Although our team is involved in a group of group of death, our ambition is to win all our games, although we know we will face strong teams,” Gourcuff said during a press briefing, held at the conference hall of the 5 July stadium.

“We will try to win our first game against South Africa, and the second (against Ghana) and so on.

“We are aware that we may suffer face these opponents, as was the case against Mali in phase qualification.”

Algeria have been widely tipped as favourites to win next year’s tournament following their recent surge in form.

They lost just one game in the entire qualifying campaign for Equatorial Guinea.

They also emerged the most impressive African side at the 2014 World Cup as the only side to have made it past the group stage in Brazil.
