Barcelona captain Alexia Putellas has been awarded the UEFA Women’s Champions League Player of the Season for the season 2021/22.
With 11 goals and two assists, the dynamic 28-year-old midfielder, who was so important to Barcelona’s offense both out wide and centrally, finished as the new-look competition’s top scorer.
Her combined goal and assist total of 13 was also the most this season.
Her outstanding all-around aggressive performance and leadership had already earned the Spanish international all of the major individual accolades, including the UEFA Women’s Player of the Year accolade for the 2020/21 season.
