Alexandre Lacazette has confirmed his Arsenal departure after five years spent at the club.
The Frenchman was out of contract this summer, and there had been no signs of either party wanting to pen a new deal at the Emirates Stadium.
Now, both the club and the player have confirmed that they will be parting ways, with the 31-year-old having grabbed 71 goals in 206 games.
And, the Frenchman has penned a letter to the Arsenal fans on Instagram, speaking of the ‘pleasure’ he has felt representing Arsenal.
‘5 years ago, my dream came true… To sign for Arsenal’, he wrote.
‘It’s been an honour to wear the jersey, to be a part of this family. I won trophies, I met real and nice ppl, and I fell even more in love with this club ❤️’
‘Good luck for the future of the club and the fans, it’s been a pleasure’, Lacazette added.
‘Once a gunner, Always a Gunner.
Thank you Arsenal ❤️♣️’
Arsenal thank Laca
Meanwhile, Arsenal have also confirmed the departure, thanking Laca for his services.
‘Thank you, Laca, we wish you all the best for the next chapter in your career’, they ended a lengthy statement with.
Mikel Arteta added his best wishes too, saying:
‘Laca has been a fantastic player for us.’
‘He’s been a real leader on and off the pitch and has been a very important influence to our younger players.
‘His commitment with us has been exceptional and we wish him and his family success and happiness.’
Edu Gaspar added:
‘A big thank you to Laca from everyone at Arsenal.
He’s been really important for us. He will always be part of the Arsenal family and we wish him well for everything in the future.’
It is now widely expected that the French forward will return to Lyon, who he joined Arsenal five years ago.
