Ghana striker Abdul Aziz Yakubu will be leaving Portuguese side Rio Ave to join Egyptian giants Al Ahly following a transfer agreement between the two clubs on Tuesday.
According to the Portuguese media, the deal would be done for around €3 million with his former club Vitória de Guimarães entitled to half of the fee.
The 24-year-old is on his way to Egypt where, after successful medicals, he will sign a contract valid for four-and-a-half seasons.
Aziz initially joined Rio Ave on loan before making his stay permanent after a blistering campaign in the second tier during the 2021/22 season. The loan agreement included a mandatory acquisition clause if the club gains promotion to the top flight, which happened. Under the agreement, Vitória owns 50% of Vitória’s onward transfer.
This season, Abdul Aziz Yakubu has eight goals and three assists in 15 appearances for Rio Ave in the Taça de Portugal.
