Al Ahli are preparing to part company with French midfielder Enzo Millot after just one season as part of a sweeping clear-out of foreign players before the 2026-27 campaign.
The Saudi Arabian side have already confirmed the departures of two of their biggest overseas names – Ivory Coast midfielder Franck Kessie and Algeria winger Riyad Mahrez – after three years at the club.
According to Saudi newspaper Arriyadiyah, Al Ahli have now decided to sacrifice a third foreign player, with Millot set to be moved on if a suitable offer arrives in the coming days.
Sporting director leads reshuffle
The report says sporting director Rui Pedro is actively looking for either a permanent sale or a loan deal for the 22-year-old, who joined Al Ahli from German side Stuttgart in last summer’s transfer window.
Millot began his first season in the Saudi Pro League in impressive fashion, quickly establishing himself in midfield. However, his performances are said to have dipped as the campaign wore on, prompting the club to reassess his role in the squad.
Arriyadiyah adds that Al Ahli have already started the process of identifying and targeting a new central midfielder to replace Millot, with recruitment work under way ahead of the new season.
The decision forms part of a broader restructuring of the foreign contingent at the Jeddah club, as they attempt to refresh the squad and maintain competitiveness in both domestic and continental competitions.
New attacking signings already in place
Despite moving towards an exit for Millot, Al Ahli have strengthened in advanced midfield and attacking areas.
The club have already secured the services of Armenia international Eduard Spertsyan and Portugal winger Francisco Trincao, both of whom are capable of operating in midfield, particularly in offensive roles.
Their arrivals give Al Ahli additional creativity and goal threat, and may have reduced the club’s reliance on Millot as an attacking outlet from central areas.
Millot’s numbers from debut season
Millot featured prominently for Al Ahli in his debut campaign, playing 40 matches in all competitions.
Across those appearances he scored nine goals and provided seven assists – a strong return for a midfielder in his first season in Saudi Arabia.
However, with Kessie and Mahrez already confirmed to be leaving after three seasons in Jeddah and Millot now likely to follow, Al Ahli’s foreign line-up is set for a significant makeover before the 2026-27 season kicks off.
The club’s ability to successfully replace that experience and output will be central to their hopes of challenging for the Saudi Pro League title and progressing deep into regional tournaments in the years ahead.
