Akuffo dedicates Ghana Premier League derby screamer to coach Opeele

Asante Kotoko midfielder Michael Akuffo has dedicated his ‘super’ winning goal against Hearts of Oak in the Ghana Premier League derby to coach Isaac Opeele Boateng.

He picked a loose ball from 30-yards and unleashed a thunderbolt which beat Hearts goalkeeper Sammy Adjei to make it 2-1 at the death of the game just a minute after Hearts had equalized.

Opeele, Ghana Under-17 assistant coach, was the first to acknowledge the worth ethic of the former Fetteh Feyenoord Academy graduate and nicknamed him after former Libya leader Muammar Gaddafi.

Akuffo’s non-stop engine and box-to-box charging style of play has made him a key figure in the Kotoko squad en route to winning a record 22nd league title.

“I will to dedicate this goal to my pastor of Believers Worship Centre and coach Opeele who nicknamed me Gaddafi,” Akuffo told Kumasi-based Fox FM.

Akuffo is in his second season at the club.
