Agyemang’s Double Silences Hillsborough as Derby Cruise Past Sheffield Wednesday

Patrick Agyemang delivered a commanding performance on Monday night, scoring twice to lead Derby County to an emphatic 3–0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.

The American-Ghanaian forward was the heartbeat of Derby’s attack, striking in the 32nd and 62nd minutes to cap a confident Championship display that left the hosts chasing shadows.

Derby set the tempo early, playing with purpose and aggression, and Agyemang embodied that intent from the first whistle. His opener was a moment of composure ;  ghosting into space before guiding a calm left-footed finish beyond the goalkeeper after being picked out by Bobby Clark inside the box.

Even as Sheffield Wednesday tried to impose themselves physically, Agyemang remained relentless. He absorbed pressure, drew three fouls, and continued to stretch the defence with his movement and strength, refusing to be subdued despite losing several duels.

After the break, Derby tightened their grip. Liam Thompson doubled the advantage from close range following a set piece, further deflating the home side. From there, Derby were in full control — and Agyemang wasn’t finished.

Just past the hour mark, the striker struck again, this time with his right foot from the centre of the box, finishing off a well-worked move that reflected Derby’s authority on the night.

Sheffield Wednesday enjoyed more possession but posed little real threat, struggling to break down a disciplined and clinical Derby side. The visitors created the clearer chances, registered the greater attacking threat, and made their moments count.

Agyemang was withdrawn late on to warm applause, a fitting end to a night where he led by example. Derby County now turn their attention to their next challenge against Portsmouth on December 20, buoyed by a performance that sent a clear message.
