Former Ghana international Emmanuel Agyemang Badu has appealed to fans and stakeholders to prioritize the Black Stars’ 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers rather than fueling debates about the future of head coach Otto Addo.
Addo has unveiled a 24-man squad for the October double-header against the Central African Republic and Comoros, fixtures that could seal Ghana’s ticket to the global showpiece.
His position has come under scrutiny after September’s 1-1 draw with Chad and recent comments from Sports Minister Kofi Adams.
In an interview with Asempa FM, Badu stressed that Addo deserves the opportunity to complete the qualifiers before any judgment is passed.
“I’m not the one who appointed him, but every work each person is doing, they want to succeed. The coach too wants to succeed in his work with the Black Stars,” he stated.
“I don’t think the stats show that he has done badly. There is more room for improvement. Let’s wait and play the two matches. There’s more time to deliberate on his future after.”
Ghana sit top of Group I with 19 points and need just four more to book a fifth appearance at the World Cup.
The Stars will face the Central African Republic in Morocco on October 8 before hosting Comoros in Accra on October 12 in their final qualifier.
