After Milner contract renewal, Liverpool come to decision on futures of two more midfielders

Word stemming from the media on Monday evening suggests that Liverpool have come to decisions on the futures of a pair of the club’s midfield stars.

The subject of Jurgen Klopp’s ranks in the middle of the park has of course taken centre stage in the media across the day to date.

This comes with one long-time Reds star having been rewarded for his efforts this past season, courtesy of a new contract.

The player in question? James Milner.

In a post across the club’s social media platforms a short time ago, Liverpool confirmed their delight with veteran England international Milner putting pen to paper on fresh terms through the summer of 2023:

Liverpool’s efforts to lock down the club’s midfield core, though, do not look set to end there.

This comes with those in a position of power at Anfield having also opened talks with Naby Keita over an extended stay on Merseyside.

This info comes courtesy of the reliable Paul Joyce of The Times, who adds, significantly, that Guinean international Keita is widely expected to commit his future to Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Turning attentions towards departures, on the other hand, one member of Liverpool’s midfield ranks looks set to call time on his stint with the club this summer.

The player in question? Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

As per Joyce, former Arsenal man Oxlade-Chamberlain ‘will be allowed’ to move on ahead of next season, in the case of an offer deemed as acceptable arriving for his signature.
