Joseph Paintsil has withdrawn from Ghana’s squad for the crucial Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Central African Republic.

The Technical team of the Black Stars has granted the Genk winger permission to return to his club in Belgium to continue his rehabilitation.

Paintsil sustained the injury in the last period of his League game against Anderlecht on Sunday and has not recovered in time for the game against the Wild Beasts.

That leaves Chris Hughton with 24 players to prepare for the match on Thursday.

Ghana are seeking a win to secure a ticket to their very 10th straight Africa Cup of Nations tournament and their 24 appearance in history.

The Black Stars remains top of Group E with 9 points, followed by Angola with 8 points before Central Africa Republic, who are third in the standings with 7 points after five matches.

They include:

Goalkeepers: Lawrence Ati Zigi, Abdul Manaf Nurudeen, Richard Ofori

Defenders: Alidu Seidu, Kingsley Schindler, Stephan Ambrosius, Joseph Aidoo, Alexander Djiku, Nicholas Opoku, Baba Abdul Rahman, Gideon Mensah

Midfielders: Abdul Samed-Salis, Baba Iddrisu, Edmund Addo, Andre Ayew, Elisha Owusu, Mohammed Kudus, Ransford Konigsdorffer

Forwards: Inaki Williams, Jordan Ayew, Antoine Semenyo, Ernest Nuamah, Osman Bukari, Jonathan Sowah
