Afful joined the Tunisia giants last week on a three-year deal and told KickOffGhana.com of his delight at ending his long search for a foreign club.
“I have been in and out of many clubs on trial so to have tied this down was important,” he said. “It came out of the blue but they liked me there and showed they wanted me. I felt straight at home a bit like being at Asante Kotoko.”
Afful claims he turned down the chance to join other clubs in Europe once Esperances’ interest became concrete.
Tunisia has however not been the best of destinations for some of Ghana’s finest talents but Afful is adamant he can make his own appearance.
“I don’t know their circumstances but I can’t make a decision on my future based on what some players may have gone through,” he added.
