Group E action in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations heats up as Sudan take on Burkina Faso at the Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca on Wednesday.
Both teams sit on three points, with Burkina Faso ahead on goal difference. Sudan bounced back from a 3-0 opening loss to Algeria with a 1-0 win over Equatorial Guinea, keeping their hopes alive for automatic qualification or a best third-placed spot.
Coach Kwesi Appiah’s men know a win will guarantee progression, while a draw could still see them through as one of the top four third-placed teams. Sudan also hold a bit of history on their side, having beaten Burkina Faso 2-1 in the 2012 AFCON.
Burkina Faso, meanwhile, are looking to recover from a narrow 1-0 loss to Algeria that ended a seven-game unbeaten run. A win for the Stallions secures their place in the round of 16 for the fourth straight tournament, while defeat leaves them relying on other results.
With both teams aware of what’s at stake, Wednesday’s clash promises to be a tense and decisive encounter.
