Ghana’s hopes of succeeding at the upcoming of Nations depends on their performance against Cape Verde in their opener, says Laryea Kingston.
The Afcon begins on January 13 and Ghana face the Blue Sharks the next day.
The Black Stars remain keen to avoid another group stage exit, having been eliminated from the first round in the last edition in Cameroon.
“I know it’s going to be tough, it is not going to be easy for the team but the most important things is our first game,” Laryea told JoySports.
“If we get it right, I think we will have a smooth tournament in Ivory Coast.”
Chris Hughton’s side have Egypt and Mozambique as the other opponents in Group B.
Meanwhile, the team will come up against Namibia on Monday in preparation for the continental event.
