Kenneth Gilbert Adjei says he will bring renewed energy, humility and a strong sense of duty to Ghana’s Ministry of Defence after President John Dramani Mahama reassigned him from the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources.
Mr Adjei set out his intentions in a Facebook post on Friday, 7 August 2026, thanking the president for trusting him with the new responsibility and describing the move as another opportunity to serve the Ghanaian people.
He said his time at the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources had been shaped by collaboration, public service and a commitment to fulfilling the mandate given to him.
“I am profoundly grateful to His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama for the confidence reposed in me and the opportunity to serve the people of Ghana as Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources,” he wrote.
Mr Adjei also paid tribute to officials and staff at his former ministry, praising their professionalism and support during his tenure.
He said the progress made there was not the work of one person, but the result of a collective effort involving the ministry’s staff.
The reassigned minister said he was approaching his new role with optimism as he moved into an area with responsibility for Ghana’s national security.
“As I take on my new responsibility at the Ministry of Defense, I do so with humility, renewed energy and a deep sense of duty,” he said.
He added that he was looking forward to making a meaningful contribution to work aimed at building a stronger and more secure Ghana.
Mr Adjei did not provide further details of specific measures or priorities for his time at the Defence Ministry, but stressed his commitment to the responsibilities that come with the new portfolio.
His message marked a continuation of the approach he said had guided his previous assignment: working with others, maintaining a focus on service and remaining committed to delivering for the country.
He also thanked Ghanaians for their continued support and called on citizens to maintain their focus on national development.
“The work continues. Let us keep our sleeves rolled up, remain focused and work even harder to deliver for Ghana,” he said.
The comments came as Mr Adjei began his transition from the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources to the Ministry of Defence. His reassignment gives him a new national responsibility while preserving, he said, the same emphasis on dedication, teamwork and public service.
He presented the change as an opportunity to continue serving the country and urged collective effort as he takes on the new assignment.
