Addy joined the Black Stars in camp in Johannesburg on Tuesday for his first call up since appearing in the friendly against Bosnia ahead of the 2010 World Cup in March 2010. He feels the timing of that call up did not work to his advantage and is now keen to put his World Cup disappointment behind him and stake his claim to the left back slot. “When I had the Bosnia call up I had not played for about two months before then and maybe as a result I did not look sharp”, he told kickoffGhana.com. “But now I am getting games for Academica, my fitness is there and I have the match practice to go with it.” Addy admits a first team place might be a long shot at the moment but with regular left back 34, now it won’t be long before that slot becomes available. And Addy, the man who played that role so effectively for the national U-20 side knows exactly what to do make it his own. “I am delighted with the option to play on loan because even though Porto values me, I was not getting games. I am convinced that as long as I get games in the top flight of Portuguese football then I can always be useful for the senior team.” Addy has started two games so in the Academica shirt of the young Portuguese season.
