Abu Kassim named Women’s Coach of the Year at Ghana Football Awards

Abu Kassim has been crowned Women’s Coach of the Year at the 2025 Ghana Football Awards.

The Police Ladies head coach beat strong contenders Mercy Tagoe and Joyce Boaitey Adjei to win the honour.

Kassim led Police Ladies to their first-ever Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League title, defeating Ampem Darkoa Ladies 2-0 in the final.

His team will now represent Ghana at the upcoming WAFU Championship, aiming for a spot in the CAF Women’s Champions League.

Mercy Tagoe was recognised for guiding Oaks FC to the Women’s Premier League, just two years after the team’s creation.

Joyce Boaitey Adjei also earned praise for helping Ghana’s U15 girls win the CAF African Schools Football Championship.

The awards ceremony took place at the Accra International Conference Centre.
